For people with a business to run

Every idea starts as adrawing.

Anyone can generate a website now. We use the same tools — that's exactly why this doesn't cost agency money. What you're paying for is someone who decides which version is actually right for your trade, and who's still here in March when your prices change.

01Site surveyWhat's there now

Your website is either missing, or quietly out of date.

Both cost you the same thing — the job that never rang. Sites go stale in about a year on their own: the number changes, the prices move, a service gets dropped, and Google notices before you do.

CASE A

Nothing there at all

Two competitors have a proper site. When someone puts all three names into a phone, that's the comparison — and you're not in it. A recommendation gets checked before it gets acted on, and the trail stops at you.

CASE B

A site you've stopped opening

Old prices. A service you don't offer any more. A number that rings a phone you don't carry. A wrong website costs you more than no website, because people believe what it says.

CASE C

One you built yourself, once

You had a good weekend with a site builder or an AI tool and got it eighty per cent there. The last twenty per cent needs taste and an afternoon you haven't got. It's still open in a tab somewhere.

case C is the commonest one now. no shame in it — the tools got good, the time didn't appear.

02MethodFour steps · about two weeks

How it works

01

You answer eight questions

About your business, not about websites. What you sell, who buys it, what you want a visitor to actually do. Two minutes, no jargon, no meeting.

02

We draw up three versions

Three complete, working sites — same business, same information, same standard of build behind all three. What changes is how far each one goes: one to be found, one to be chosen, one to bring work in. Nothing is a sketch and nothing is a template with your logo dropped in.

03

You choose how far it goes

You're not describing a website to a stranger and hoping. You're looking at three finished ones and picking the one that does the job you actually need doing. Then you tell us what you'd change.

04

We build it and put it live

Domain, hosting, email, the lot. Then you decide whether we keep looking after it or you take the keys and go.

03General arrangementOne price · two ways to buy

What it costs

One price for the site, whichever of the three you pick. Design, build, copy and going live, all in. Then two ways to pay for it — and the honest difference is whether you want to be able to change it afterwards.

DWG · OUTRIGHT

Buy it outright

Yours entirely, from the day it goes live. Host it anywhere you like.

£1,950
  • Design and code transferred to you
  • Domain in your name, as always
  • Nothing monthly, ever
  • Changing it later is on you, or a quoted job

Twelve-month minimum. £1,703 across year one, then £59 a month.

the £59 is the back end, not hosting. hosting costs pennies and we're not going to pretend otherwise.

The three drawings

Same brand, same build quality, same accessibility and speed in all three. A smaller drawing is smaller in scope — never rougher. They differ by the job they do.

04Maintenance scheduleWho looks after it

Then — who looks after it?

A site nobody maintains stops working inside a year: the number changes, the prices go stale, Google quietly drops it. Every tier below is work on your website — that's what makes it instant, and it's why we can be exact about what you get.

What it isn't: we don't touch your Google listing, your reviews or your photography. Roughly half of what decides the local map results sits inside that listing, and we'd rather say so than sell you something we can't move. That work is real and we do it — quoted as its own job, not folded into a monthly fee.

Questions about your business, not about websites. Nothing here asks you to pick a price or commit to anything — that conversation comes after you've seen the three drawings.

06NotesThe questions people actually ask

Straight answers

Can't I just do this myself with AI?

Honestly, you could get close. We use the same tools — that's exactly why this isn't agency money. What takes the time isn't generating a website, it's knowing which of the three is right for your trade, writing copy that sounds like you rather than like a robot, and being the person who updates it in March when your prices change. If you've got the hours and the eye, do it yourself and we'll say good luck. Most owners have neither going spare, and that's not a criticism — you're busy running a business.

Do I own it, or are you renting it to me?

You own it. The domain goes in your name from day one, and on any plan you can ask for the files and walk. We don't hold your website hostage to keep you paying — if the aftercare is worth having, you'll keep it because it's worth having.

Am I tied in?

On the monthly, yes — twelve months, and we say that plainly rather than burying it. After that it's a month's notice whenever you like. If being tied in isn't for you, buy it outright at £1,950 and there's nothing monthly at all. That option exists precisely so you never have to feel stuck.

What if I want to leave?

Give a month's notice and we hand over the domain and the logins. The domain has been in your name since day one either way — we don't hold a website hostage to keep someone paying.

What's the £59 actually for? Hosting is nearly free.

You're right, and we're not going to pretend otherwise — hosting genuinely costs pennies. The £59 is the back end: the thing that lets you change what's already on your site without ringing anyone. That's what the big website builders actually sell you, and it's the part that stops a site going stale in a year.

I'm not technical at all. Is that a problem?

No — it's who this is built for. You'll never be asked to log into anything, choose a template, or learn a system. You answer questions about your own business and we do the rest.

I haven't got photos or a logo.

Very common. We build around what you've got, and tell you honestly the few photos worth taking on a phone. If you need a logo we'll say so and quote it separately rather than sneaking it into the price.

How do you actually make money?

Two ways, both on this page. The site is a one-off fee. The care plan is monthly. That's it — no commission, no kickback from hosting companies, nothing hidden in the small print.

Will you sort out my Google listing?

Not on a monthly plan, and that's deliberate. Roughly half of what decides the local map results lives inside your Google listing — the categories, the reviews — and none of it is on your website. We can do that work, and we quote it as its own job. What we won't do is charge you monthly for something and quietly not move it. We also don't bill for Google Business posts, because nobody has ever shown they work.

Why is there no "call for a quote"?

Because you've probably had that before and it wasted a fortnight. The prices are on the page so you can decide in your own time whether this is for you.

07PracticeWho's behind it
Why Vellum

Light through a drawing.

Vellum is the surface a building gets drawn on before it exists. Architects used it because it took pencil and ink, rubbed out clean, and was thin enough to lay over yesterday's version and trace a better one through it. It is the material of changing your mind.

When the drawing was right, you laid it over treated paper and put a light through it. The lines that came out the other side were the blueprint. That's all a blueprint ever was — light through vellum.

The material itself was invented out of spite. In the second century BC, Egypt cut off Pergamon's papyrus to stop its library rivalling Alexandria's. Pergamon worked out how to write on skin instead, and ended up with something that lasted a thousand years longer.

PRACTICE NOTE

Vellum is a BAXARlabs company

BAXARlabs builds the infrastructure once, then runs ventures through it — so a small business gets agency work at a price that normally buys a template.
